Dr Akshay A Bafna is a dynamic yet humble Cardiologist based in Kolhapur. He manages Diabetes and other chronic issues in the elderly. His additional qualification in Geriatric Medicine helps him understand his old patients’ needs better. He is one of the very few Cardiologists in Kolhapur, trained to deal with Neonatal and Paediatric cardiac problems, courtesy his years at KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Akshay Bafna has over 10 Years of experience practicing his science in various Government, Private and Corporate hospitals and clinics. Currently he has his own setup by the name of Dr Bafna’s Star Superspeciality Hospital in Kolhapur and Dr. Bafna’s Cardiac Centre in Ichalkaranji . He’s also working as a Head of Dept. Cardiology at Govt Medical College, CPR Hospital, Kolhapur.
During the pandemic,he headed the team of Main Critical COVID ICU where over 2000 non affording patients were treated. He performed 250+ cardiac interventions during the pandemic which included COVID positive patients as well. He was also looking after an NGO COVID centre. He has treated and internationally published the first case report of acute left subclavian artery thrombosis-a rare presentation of COVID. He has created a lot of public awareness about COVID through media in and around Kolhapur.
Dr Akshay Bafna has many International paper publications and has written chapters in various cardiac text books. He is an academician with a rare book-to-bedside skill.
